Introductie

FrieslandCampina Laboratory & Quality Services (LQS) located in Leeuwarden, the Netherlands, is the center for dairy analytics and analytical expertise for all of FrieslandCampina. LQS is carrying out analyses, sharing knowledge and delivering expertise in the field of microbiology, chemistry, sensory and hygiene to the benefit of Operating Companies and FrieslandCampina Business Units. The ultimate goal is a high level of food safety, product quality and industrial hygiene. The for FrieslandCampina unique ISO 17025 accreditation is proof of the high level of Laboratory & Quality Services.

LQS is carrying out analyses, sharing knowledge and delivering expertise in the field of microbiology, chemistry, sensory and hygiene to the benefit of Operating Companies and FrieslandCampina Business Units. The ultimate goal is a high level of food safety, product quality and industrial hygiene. The for FrieslandCampina unique ISO 17025 accreditation is proof of the high level of Laboratory & Quality Services.



LQS in total employs some 300 workers. The chemical, physical, sensory and microbiology laboratories deliver approx. 1.7 mln product release data per year.

Besides the Laboratory Department, LQS has a Business Support Department to support and train the business. With a growing team of 25 colleagues we are standardizing laboratory method and system requirements worldwide. With our microbiological and analytical chemistry knowledge we participate in product and process innovation projects, process improvement projects and (process) troubleshooting. We develop new analytical chemical and microbiological QC release methods and participate actively in global ISO networks. We experience a growing need for standardization and harmonization of analytical chemical, physical-chemical and sensory methods within the company. This facilitates the business to maintain the high level of food safety and product quality we guarantee.

The Business Support Department consists of three cluster. One of them is the cluster Chemistry & Sensory. For this cluster we are looking for a cluster leader who as a cooperating head will work closely with QC , QA and R&D departments to standardize, maintain, develop and implement new and existing methods. Besides this you will be responsible for the performance and operations of analysis that are executed at external partners. You will have a global scope and regular travel in the Netherlands is expected. You will lead a team of approx.. 9 people.

Setting and implementing global standards for analytical chemistry, physical chemistry and sensory methods.
Manage the program on sensory quality methods together with R&D sensory business partners.
Responsible for global plan to maintain and support, analytical , chemical and sensorial, standard operating procedures worldwide.
Develop and implement validated methods in cooperation with R&D, QC and the LQS operational laboratory based on business requirements.
Leading a growing team of 5 employees.
Builds and executes training programs in cooperation with the business groups to improve and maintain the global method standards.
Lead incremental projects related to method developments in the business.
Cooperation and partnership with institutes, universities, government agencies and peer companies in this expertise field.
Participate in knowledge network in the knowledge fields
Troubleshooting, participate in RCA-teams in case of issues.

Het profiel / Your profile

Requirements

Academic degree MsC or PhD in chemistry, food technology or related field of expertise
Proven experience and knowledge of analytical chemistry and/or sensory in dairy or infant food industry.
Minimally 5-10 years" experience in working in a similar position in an international laboratory or research environment
Managerial experience
Experience in a large, complex, challenging, international environment;
A pro-active, decisive, convincing person who is a strong all-round communicator;
Good team player and team builder;
Experience with statistics and data analysis is a pre;
Experience with project management
Flexibility to travel (national and international);
Excellent communication skills on all levels in Dutch and English
